Hold On Me

Kind Villain hit the world with its 9th single, “Hold On Me” on July 26th – an offering that’s nothing less than impressive. “Hold On Me” is dynamic and thundering, yet subtle and emotive. Fresh and modern, yet classic and timeless.

The listener is immediately surrounded by a huge growling bass, but then drawn like a fly into the highly nuanced, delicate lead vocal web as it announces: “I’m your pet, gladly pulling on the leash”. The song professes that maybe the bird in the cage sings because it’s actually happy?!

It’s delivered with a stunning vocal performance by Kind Villain frontman, EV Frederick, reminiscent of the greatest vocalists of today and yesterday. EV points out, “I had to dig deep to record ‘Hold On Me’ vocally and emotionally. These are questions I’ve had in my life and situations in it. I wanted to keep the verses personal and emotional and have the chorus push my vocals to new heights. Those dynamics took a lot of blood, sweat and tears, but I’m excited about the result. It helps express the contradiction between wanting freedom and existing in a blissful bondage.”

The production and sonics are a stellar addition under the helm of veteran producer Paul Trust (Starset / Morgan Wallen) and will light up earbuds and audiophile sound systems alike. The song’s chorus resonates with the listener as it sings “I’m in your spell because it’s sorcery” with a magic that’s sure to captivate the audience as well.
