“A group that’s bubbling up to be more than a band, but a movement…one of alternative
music’s best new bands” – Kerrang!
“It does its big riffs all the way. This British band feels like they might really blow up in the near future” – Metal Hammer
“Screeching guitar feedback from rising UK avant-rockers unpeople, who can lay claim to the loudest performance of the weekend” – The Guardian
After a weekend of tearing up the Reading & Leeds Festivals, unpeople have announced their stunning, anthemic new single ‘blueprints’ – taken from their forthcoming debut album we are unpeople – out Oct 9th on SharpTone Records.
A lighter touch that takes no prisoners when it comes to anthemic ambition, ‘blueprints’ reveals another side of unpeople. Built around skyscraping four-part harmonies and soaring melodies, the track makes a compelling case for a band ready for the world’s biggest stages.
“The subject matter of this song is not an easy one to get into, personally,” singer & guitarist Jake Crawford explains. “It’s broadly about propping up people who have behaviours that are clearly not good for them or the people around them. People who only want what is best for them. Take from that what you will. Luke wrote the lion’s share of the song and presented it to us with the chorus lyrics and melody already in place. I loved it so much we kept it almost exactly as it was and I just elaborated on the overall feeling of the tune with the verses.”
A seamless ability to connect across boundaries and conjure communal spirit sits at the very heart of the band’s recently-announced debut album. Built upon massive choruses, four-part vocal harmonies and unabated heaviness, it captures a band whose ambition is matched by their belief in the power of music to unite people.
With stadium-busting choruses, to 00’s Reuben-esque mega-riffs and the stunningly unpredictable eccentricity of System Of A Down, the album is colourful and joyous, yet aggressive and intense, having already spawned infectious tasters that include ‘friends’, ‘clouds’, ‘the garden’ & ‘waste’.
Comprised of Jake Crawford, Luke Caley, Em Lodge & Richard Rayner, unpeople have quickly established themselves as one of the UK’s most exciting new alternative bands, earning themselves a reputation for creating music that feels equally at home on the biggest rock stages and the heaviest festival bills.
With Kerrang! hailing them as “one of alternative music’s best new bands”, live, they’ve opened for Metallica in Vienna, shared bills with Smashing Pumpkins and Coheed & Cambria & drawn huge crowds at 2000trees.
With support tours incoming with both Royal Blood & Don Broco, the band are ready to take things to the next level. Across January 2027, unpeople will take on their biggest headline tour to date across the UK – with most dates selling out almost instantly.
