Blur

Dead7 shape sound and feeling into an atmosphere where anything could happen at any moment.

Musically, the St. Louis, MO quintet—Jason Kozik [vocals], Dexter Greer [guitar], Tim Quinn [guitar], Stephen Salyer [bass], and Zach Guinn [drums]—temper thick guitar-driven grooves with entrancing electronics, ethereal keys, and evocative vocals. Simultaneously, death and romance become interchangeable, rotating around an axis of relatable emotional turbulence.

After amassing millions of streams and building buzz independently, Dead7 caught the attention of SharpTone Records and signed with the label in late 2024.

Their latest single, “Blur,” encapsulates the band’s immersive vision. A synth groan murmurs beneath bouncy vocals, leading into a hypnotic harmony before dissolving under the weight of a brain-numbing distorted riff. “Everything is so far away when it’s Armageddon every day,” Jason observes, capturing the chaos of life’s uncertainties.

“It incorporates a lot of what Dead7 is,” he explains. “When we wrote it, we thought, ‘This is our sound. Here we are.’ Lyrically, it’s about trying to navigate life amidst personal struggles, relationships, and the overwhelming state of the world. It feels like a blur, and you’re just trying to survive.”

With their dynamic sound and emotional depth, Dead7 continue to push boundaries, crafting music that resonates with those searching for meaning in the noise.
